50 Inch Bull Dolphin Half Sided Fish Mount

This bull dolphin fish mount is part of our half sided series. A half sided mount is produced by casting the front part of our two sided wall mount molds. When displayed the circumference of the half mount is either touching the wall or very close to the wall. This process cuts labor and supplies cost and therefore results in a lower price point however the skin texture and finishing process is the same as a traditional full mount.

Dolphin fish, also called Dorado or Mahi Mahi, normally depending on your geographical location, are one of the most sought after gamefish in the world. Their excellent table fare, exciting bait crashing bites, and fairly easy catch ability make them a preferred target for many offshore anglers. Colors on dolphins normally include yellow, greens and blues and can also include hues of gold and orange and many iridescent colors and don't forget the spots, sometimes a couple dozen, sometimes hundreds. Like other fish, bull dolphins can have many different variations of coloring however our standard paint job is a blue to green to yellow blend with many different colored blue toned dot patterns. The final step of the finishing process is to spray a UV protecting clear coat to give it superior protection indoors or outside. We do not custom paint our half sided series replicas.

Bull Dolphin Half Mount

I am very happy with the mount I purchased. There were just a couple of things I might improve in the future. The mount arrived with part of the tail sticking out of the box. There was a scratch that took off the paint on the tip. It didn't show as I have it up high on the wall. The other thing is that your painters need to brighten their palate. The reason I ordered this 50" bull Mahi, is that I caught one this size in the Florida Keys. I know that the colors of a Mahi (Dolphin) start to change to gray from the moment you take it out of the water. I took a picture of him gaffing the fish and pulling it on-board. I was a mainly fluorescent yellow fish turning to neon green then electric blue at the top dorsal. I've caught hundreds of dolphin in Florida, being a third generation Floridian and previously a Charter Captain, they are strikingly beautiful. If any of your painters would like to see one in the water, go to Marathon , Fl. in July. Thank you, Capt. Joshua Griffin
