What is the difference between a half mount and a full mount?
Half mount replicas were developed to create an affordable alternative to full mount replicas. In full mount taxidermy, two sides (the front and the back) are cast with fiberglass and then must be bonded together. This takes time with the challenge coming from sanding the bonding agent where the two sides meet to hide the seem and replicate the fish's skin texture. With half mount taxidermy we only cast the front side of the replica. Therefore we save on time and material costs, passing along the savings to you the customer.
All of our half mount replicas are very straight from head to tail. This way you can not see the unfinished backside of the replica that is against the wall.
Half mount replicas make the perfect interior or exterior wall decoration. Many restaurants and businesses choose this form of taxidermy for decoration for half mounts are easy to hang, easy to clean, and less expensive than full mount taxidermy.
